Antoine Semenyo Targets Goal Milestone with Bournemouth

Antoine Semenyo made the move from Bristol City to Bournemouth in January 2023. The always-skilled, always-dangerous playmaker is looking to take his game to another level this year! After a successful year, where he netted 11 league goals, Semenyo aims to surpass his previous achievements by targeting a total of 15 goals for the ongoing campaign. As Bournemouth aim for European football next season, Semenyo’s fight and desire is what Franck is made of.

Off the field, Semenyo has garnered attention — and this time, it has nothing to do with his electrifying play. The Ghana international recalls his early days of playing football, reminiscing about joyous kickabouts in the park with his parents at the tender age of two or three. To unlock his full potential, Semenyo’s father urged him to use both feet which was advice the Bristol Robins Semenyo took on board.

“I remember being two or three years old and I was in the park with my parents and I loved a kickabout. My dad said ‘you can use your left and right foot’ and I said ‘yeah dad, I can’.” – Antoine Semenyo

Throughout the pre-season, Semenyo worked on honing the finer details with one-on-one coaching sessions. He focused on developing challenging shots from acute angles, refining his craft to be able to put away opportunities with precision. This preparation is crucial as he aims to improve his game and contribute significantly to Bournemouth’s ambitions.

Setting personal goals is another important part of Semenyo’s program. Every year, he writes down his goals in a journal, detailing what he needs to accomplish on the field. This season, there is extra urgency for him to go well beyond that mark.

“With the journal, every year, I write my goals,” – Antoine Semenyo

Semenyo’s drive for improvement is evident when he states, “I always want to do better than I did in previous seasons.” This proactive mindset is equally indicative of his personal ambition as well as Bournemouth’s joint aspiration to be a regular participant in European competition.

After a breakout year last season and with transfer rumors swirling around him from other clubs, the big-money signing Semenyo confirmed his allegiance to Bournemouth this week. He shared how he wasn’t sure what his future looked like at first but now is happy he’s made the choice to continue with the team.

“I wasn’t too sure at the start but we’ve kicked on like a house on fire. I’m glad I committed to staying here because I’m enjoying every moment.” – Antoine Semenyo

Bournemouth in particular has undergone a huge amount of turnover within the squad, with a slew of close teammates heading to other clubs. Semenyo is taking all this in his stride though, and despite a disappointing start to the season, thinks that anything is possible for Bournemouth this season. That confidence is contagious throughout the team as they look to solidify their league standing and finish the path to a return to Europe’s elite.

The 29-year-old is excited about the direction that Bournemouth are heading in and looks forward to being an integral part of their progression. Currently the team is mounting a serious challenge for a place in European football – their first in over two decades. It’ll take Semenyo’s talent and determination to get there.
