The good news continues for the Minnesota Timberwolves… He indicated that All-Star guard Anthony Edwards will indeed be returning to the lineup Wednesday night, in time for the Wolves’ showdown with the New York Knicks. This is a huge step forward for the collaborative team. Edwards has already missed four games this season due to a strained right hamstring.
Edwards sustained the injury only three minutes into the Timberwolves’ home opener against the Indiana Pacers. That sad moment came on October 26. His loss is acutely felt. Before his injury, he was dominating, averaging an impressive 36 points in the two full games he played. What really jumps out is the four-game layoff. It eclipses the combined total of missed games the stud tackle saw in each of his past three campaigns.
In the last two practices, head coach Chris Finch said that Edwards seemed to be back to his usual self. The team announced Monday that he’d been cleared for full contact on the court. Originally, Finch had Edwards on the injury report as questionable for Wednesday night’s game. Later, Finch confirmed that Edwards will indeed suit up to face the Knicks, easing the minds of Wolves fans everywhere.
The Timberwolves should be very eager to welcome Edwards back, especially considering his performance at the beginning of the season. He’s proven his elite scoring ability time and time again to make himself an immensely valuable franchise player. During the last two seasons Edwards has played 79 games per season, illustrating his toughness and willingness to compete through injury.
As a three-time All-Star, Edwards has solidified himself as one of the new faces of the league. His return not only strengthens the Timberwolves’ depth chart, but sets the bar higher in terms of what fans should expect from Minnesota going forward. His fans, Jersey teammates and the soccer world all are waiting to see the imprint he’ll make in a second stage game with New York.
