Amon-Ra St. Brown, the highly-productive young wide receiver for the Detroit Lions is facing a sprained ankle right now. This all-important injury clouds his status heading into the team’s next game. The injury occurred in the first quarter of Detroit’s last game. They matched up against the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving Day and lost 31-24. St. Brown was forced out with an injury while blocking for running back Jahmyr Gibbs. He didn’t re-enter after that.
Throughout this week, St. Brown has missed all practices, putting his availability in this huge Week 8 matchup into serious question. Though physically sidelined from on-field work, he’s stayed involved through an emphasis on mental reps. It’s simply to make sure he stays ready in case he gets the necessary clearance to play.
St. Brown has been the Lions’ most consistent pass catcher in 2023, leading the team with 75 receptions on the year for 884 yards and nine touchdowns. As a veteran player and team captain in his fifth season, his presence on the field is vital for the team’s success.
After the injury, St. Brown was understandably upbeat about his situation. He stated, “It hurts, but it’s getting better. So, that’s the good news. Just day-by-day.” His commitment to the team is evident as he noted, “Just trying to make sure I’m out there for my guys.”
