Amelia Kerr Sets Sights on The Hundred Glory with Manchester Originals

Amelia Kerr, a seasoned cricketer at just 24 years old, is aiming to add another trophy to her impressive collection as she joins the Manchester Originals for The Hundred. Having made a name for herself in the world of cricket with her astounding performances, Kerr is no stranger to getting her hands on silverware. She was particularly electric in the T20 World Cup final, inspiring her New Zealand team to their first-ever World Cup title. In doing so, she earned the tournament’s player of the tournament.

It’s no wonder that Kerr’s impressive track record should give folks confidence about her capabilities. She has skippered Wellington to the Super Smash title. On the club side, she led her Mumbai Indians squad to claim her second Women’s Premier League (WPL) title. In the 2025 WPL, she finished as the top wicket-taker. This monumental success helped to establish her place as one of the sport’s burgeoning stars. She was named the ICC’s women’s cricketer of the year for 2024. This award now joins her long and distinguished list of individual honors.

Now with The Hundred on the horizon, Kerr is adamant in her quest for the Manchester Originals to go all the way. So, even with all that she’s accomplished, she has never advanced to win The Hundred, thereby making the tournament all-the-more-special and important to her.

There’s always space for medals. It doesn’t take up much room, Kerr said, focusing on growing her collection of hardware, as she said with a smile.

For her part, Kerr is certainly confident in the young talent on her team. She believes that their strong lineup can lead them to success, stating, “We’ve got such a good side. Sometimes that doesn’t mean anything, it’s about how you perform. Hopefully I can bring the belief that we can reach the final and be one of the best teams.”

Her deep respect and appreciation for the team’s coach, Michael Klinger, really jumped out, too. Kerr noted, “I’m so impressed with Michael Klinger. How he makes players feel in a short space of time, they are going to play without fear and express themselves and that’s how you get the best out of people.”
