Amani Hooker is going to be around for a while with the Tennessee Titans now that he’s signed a three-year, $48.6 million contract extension. The guarantee of the deal is worth a total of $29 million. Hooker, 27, has become a dominant force on the Titans’ defensive front. As it turned out, he was the first punter off the board that year, taken in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Over his six seasons in the league, Hooker has demonstrated consistent performance, participating in 80 games and accumulating impressive statistics. He’s registered 315 tackles, 12 INTs and 31 PBU over his career. Last season was a memorable one for Hooker. He played a staggering 96.2% of the Titans’ defensive snaps and notched a career-high five interceptions (tied for the team lead). He tied for the team lead with nine pass breakups in 2022.
Hooker, overwhelmed with emotion, gave thanks for the support he’s had throughout his career.
“This is a reflection of all the people that believed in me along the way.” – Amani Hooker
The Titans’ decision to extend Hooker’s contract comes as he was entering the final season of a previous three-year, $33 million extension signed in 2022. His contributions have been instrumental to the team’s defensive strategies and overall performance.
Hooker will help anchor the Titans’ secondary. Quandre Diggs will toss into that rotation, which will provide incredibly important depth at the safety position. Hooker is one of five safeties on the Titans’ 53-man roster. This just goes to show the team’s intense dedication to creating an impenetrable defensive front.
The Titans are building toward their best season yet. Hooker’s extension proves their conviction in his talent, as well as his leadership on the field. Whether you’re a fan or an analyst, everyone will be watching Hooker extremely closely. They’re hoping to see him further upon his recent success and further become a force on the Titans’ defense.
