Alex Scott Shines in Breakthrough Season with Bournemouth and England Call-Up

Alex Scott, an immensely gifted 22-year-old midfielder, has emerged as a key player in Bournemouth’s lineup. This season he’s really made his mark in the Premier League. His exhibitions have earned him a firm resurgence into the starting XI. They have gained him a call-up to the senior England squad this coming November. International sneaks Scott’s meteoric ascent to stardom began when Bournemouth bought him from Bristol City in August 2023.

Scotthas quietly but profoundly changed the culture at Bournemouth. He has made 14 league starts in their 15 matches this season. His versatility as a No 8 midfielder jumps out in defensive and attacking plays. This deep understanding of the technical and human components of service design practice makes him an invaluable asset to the team. His continued development is especially notable given how well he played during England’s U21 Euros title win earlier this summer. He had a real opportunity to prove what he could do on a much bigger stage.

Scott’s progress on the field has been nothing short of remarkable. Last week, he went to the opening of a new PUMA store where other Premier League rising stars Morgan Rogers, James Maddison, and Destiny Udogie were present. Scott shared his appreciation of the inaugural event and reaffirmed the importance of events like it for fans and brands to connect.

“It’s an unbelievable place to put a store like this. It’s amazing for the brand and people who want to experience what it’s like at PUMA.” – Alex Scott

Scott’s early development in the beautiful game started in his hometown of Tyndrum, playing youth football with step-sister Maya Le Tissier. He reminisces about their lives aspiring together in a cutthroat ecosystem.

“She played with the boys and she was always our best player, so we were happy to have her.” – Alex Scott

It’s no coincidence that Scott is flourishing in his first managerial role at AFC Bournemouth. He is often quoted for his insistence on instilling a “killer instinct” into players on the pitch. He loves the free-flowing aspect of being a midfielder. Despite all of this, he maintains that scoring goals is the most important thing for his team to win.

“Goals are obviously very important and if you become a goal-scoring midfielder, that’s amazing and you can contribute more to the team.” – Alex Scott

Scott has already been working this offseason on developing his defensive game to complement his explosive offensive upside. He believes that mastering both aspects of the game can elevate him from being a good player to a top player.

“It’s something I’ve definitely improved a lot and I want to continue to improve my defensive side of the game too. I think that takes you from a good player to a top player if you can do the defensive and offensive stuff.” – Alex Scott

His attitude and desire to get better can be displayed through the fact he’s been a mainstay in the lineup ever since his run in the U21 Euros. Despite facing injuries that impacted his playing time at Bournemouth, Scott remains focused on his career aspirations, which include representing England at the senior level and competing in the Champions League.

Regardless of how this breakthrough season plays out, one thing is certain—the young midfielder’s drive and love for the game will remain on full display. With every game, Scott looks to solidify his position at Bournemouth. His biggest aspiration is to establish himself as one of the next big stars on the global football stage.
