Florida Gators superstar and consensus top-5 pick Alex Condon recently declared for the 2025 NBA Draft. In doing so, he’s preventing his NCAA eligibility from completely going out the window. Condon put together an outstanding season, garnering third-team All-SEC honors. His contributions were important in leading Florida to a school-record 36-4 record overall and a conquest of the SEC tournament.
All season long, Condon showed just how versatile he is developing into on the court. He averaged a very good 10.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 blocks per game. He started 33 games and played career-high 24.9 minutes per game. His performance not only underscores his stamina but his talent for performing best in tense, high stakes situations. Condon’s athleticism and skills were on display when it mattered most during the playoff run. He had a glorious performance against Houston too, with 12 points, seven rebounds, and four steals on the highlight reel.
During those final minutes of the Houston game, Condon was a bulldog. Then on the last play, he dove on the floor for a loose ball with two seconds left. His leadership, ingenuity and relentless will to win made sure that Florida came away with the win.
“I saw a Houston player running over to try and make a play to win it, so I did what I do best. Dive on the floor and get it back to Walt until time ran out.” – Alex Condon
After winning the SEC tournament, the Gators soaked in every joyous celebration, ending with a euphoric cutting of the nets in San Antonio. Condon’s performances on the season were pivotal to that success. He remains an influential player as Florida moves forward.
The deadline for Condon to withdraw his name from the draft is May 28. If his intention is to return to college basketball—and only he knows that—then he can immediately go back. Declaring for the draft is undoubtedly a sign of the utmost confidence in his abilities and potential to thrive at the professional level. This decision allows him to stay eligible under NCAA rules.
“Walt [Clayton Jr.] did a great job of getting out on [Emanuel] Sharp to deny his 3-pointer.” – Alex Condon
As Condon begins this exciting new adventure, we wish him the best and look forward to seeing what the future holds for him and the Gators. His play this season won him a lot of praise. It further cemented him as an interesting prospect with upside for NBA teams looking for up-and-coming potential.
