Aitana Bonmati has been released from hospital after treatment for viral meningitis. The 27-year-old midfielder for the Spanish national team and FC Barcelona experienced health issues just days before the start of Euro 2025.
Bonmati was missing in action for Spain’s 3-1 win against Japan in a friendly on Friday. Despite being hospitalized, she kept her spirits high, sharing a photo on Instagram of herself watching the match from her hospital bed.
It’s no wonder then that Bonmati has been voted the Ballon d’Or the past two years. He is regarded as an instrumental figure in the national senior team of Spain. Her artistry was a key ingredient to Spain’s title wins not only in the 2023 World Cup, but in the 2024 Nations League.
