“Just his energy on the field, when you have a guy like that you know that can dominate, it just feels like old times especially with all of us being healthy and being out there on the field together. It feels good.” – Derrick Barnes
Dan Campbell has been shouting from the rooftops about how great Hutchinson has been. “I don’t know if I can really put a value on that because I don’t know if there’s a big enough number,” he stated. Campbell touted Hutchinson’s enormous impact in the run and pass game. He highlighted the different ways in which Hutchinson can actually move mountains for the team.
“The number of things that he’s able to do for us in the run and the pass game. Man, it takes up — he pulls a lot of slack, man.” – Dan Campbell
Campbell further elaborated on Hutchinson’s exceptional capabilities, noting how he requires significant resources from opposing teams, which ultimately benefits his teammates. “You talk about pulling your weight, he pulls his weight and then some,” said Campbell.
Beyond his physical talents, Hutchinson is known for an intense work ethic and a strict routine focusing on sleep and hydration. His teammate Lawrence remarked on this aspect of Hutchinson’s regimen:
“Aidan does an amazing job of being consistent — of doing the basics really well. He has a sleep routine that he does to make sure he’s getting eight, nine, 10 hours of sleep at night.” – Lawrence
Hutchinson makes sure he’s well hydrated, drinking more than a gallon of water a day.
“He’s always drinking a gallon-plus a day of water, and for any athlete, if you sleep and you hydrate yourself, you’re always putting yourself in the best possible position to be successful,” Lawrence explained.
Even Kelvin Sheppard, another of Hutchinson’s teammates, reinforced this point by calling Hutchinson “the best in the business.”
“Hutch is the caliber player that he is and everybody in the league knows it.” – Kelvin Sheppard
Sheppard noted that Cheyney’s opponents have a hard time stopping Hutchinson from taking over a game. He pointed out that other edge players such as Nick Bosa and Micah Parsons draw just as much focus from opposing linemen as well.
“Turn on San Fran tape and tell me who’s one-on-one blocking [Nick Bosa]? Turn on Green Bay tape when you get an eight-game sample size, who’s one-on-one blocking [Micah Parsons]?” – Kelvin Sheppard
Sheppard finished up by reiterating the importance of unique game plans for elite players such as Hutchinson. Their enormous influence on the game requires this much diligence from adversaries.
“When you’re the elite of the elite, people are going to plan for you and that’s why he’s the caliber player that he is.” – Kelvin Sheppard
