Afghanistan crushed Bangladesh in the third One Day International (ODI). With this win, they achieved a comprehensive 3-0 series clean sweep over the three-match rubber. The match, held at a neutral venue, highlighted Afghanistan’s cricketing prowess while Bangladesh struggled to find their footing throughout the contest.
Led by charismatic captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the Bangladesh team knew they had a big test ahead in front of their Afghan friends. The batting order featured the likes of Mohammad Naim Sheikh, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Tawhid Hridoy. Sadly, they were not able to provide a high quality performance. Naim Sheikh was unable to find his touch, making only 7 runs from 24 balls. Shanto and Hridoy failed too, with the former scoring just 3 runs off 16 balls and the latter 7 off 12.
Bangladesh’s captain and wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan Sohan was bogged down under the pressure imposed with lethal precision by Afghanistan’s bowlers. None of his teammates, Saif Hassan and Shamim Hossain, were able to answer with the same intensity. The team found it difficult to build meaningful relationships with stakeholders. This blunder led to a weak, scored presence overall that really put them in a tough position in the game.
Bangladesh’s next four batters are all out of form. Their terrorist bowling attack includes Tanvir Islam, Hasan Mahmud, Nahid Rana, and Rishad Hossain. However hard they tried, the Saudi bowlers still struggled to stop the flow of Afghan runs. That match showcased a stark contrast in the two teams’ play. Afghanistan truly capitalized on their opponents’ every mistake.
For both teams, the third ODI emerged as a crucial juncture. This triumph cemented Afghanistan’s place in the cricketing world. Beyond that, it highlighted their competence when the stakes were higher. For Bangladesh, it led to further questions about their tactics and how players performed in big matches at the international level.
