LIV Golf has solidified its presence in Australia, with Adelaide set to continue hosting its prestigious tournament until 2031. The South Australian capital will witness a shift in the venue from The Grange Golf Club to a newly redeveloped course at the North Adelaide Golf Club. Designed by former LIV Golf chief Greg Norman, this move aligns with the state government's successful bid for an extended hosting contract.
The tournament, initially scheduled to conclude after its fourth event in 2026, has drawn significant attention and success over the past two years, attracting around 100,000 fans each year. The South Australian state Premier, Peter Malinauskas, confirmed that the new course would accommodate the tournament through 2031, spotlighting Adelaide as a key destination in the world of golf.
"There's no place we'd rather be than right here in Adelaide." – Scott O'Neil
LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil expressed his strong preference for Adelaide as a host city, underscoring the significance of the event in the tour's short history. The move to North Adelaide Golf Club promises not only a change of scenery but also a cutting-edge golfing experience. Greg Norman will oversee the redesign of this course, located prominently within the city's central business district.
"As a golf course designer, you very seldom get the opportunity to be involved with a project downtown." – Greg Norman
Norman's involvement in the project highlights his continued influence on LIV Golf's development. This strategic decision reflects LIV Golf's ambitions to remain a formidable presence in international golf, even amid ongoing efforts to reunify with the PGA Tour. Notably, PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan recently met with President Donald Trump as part of these reunification discussions.
The tournament's relocation to North Adelaide is not merely a logistical change; it represents an evolution in the event's prestige and appeal. With its central location, the new course is poised to attract both seasoned golf enthusiasts and new fans alike, bolstering Adelaide's status as a premier golf destination.
