Adam Scott Steers PGA Tour Amid Reunification Talks

Adam Scott has emerged as a pivotal figure in the ongoing discussions regarding the future of the PGA Tour since joining its board at the beginning of 2024. His involvement coincided with the PGA Tour's strategic partnership with Strategic Sports Group, which included a substantial $1.5 billion investment. Scott, along with other stakeholders like the DP World Tour, is at the helm of conversations about potential reunification with players who left for LIV Golf.

Scott, who has been a player director and formerly served on the Player Advisory Council (PAC) since age 42, sees reunification as a potential path forward for the PGA Tour. This view aligns with Rory McIlroy's belief that bringing back defected players would benefit the tour's membership. As PAC chairman, Scott played a critical role in electing a minority shareholder to take equity in the tour within weeks of joining the board.

"There's two people in this discussion, more to be honest — the DP World Tour, a lot of other stakeholders in the pro game."

Scott acknowledges the complexity of the situation. He admits that while the reunification might not please everyone, it remains a priority for PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan, especially in negotiations with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia.

"It's not been an easy thing to solve, otherwise we'd have solved it, I believe."

Scott's tenure on the board has also seen him engage in high-level discussions, including a meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House. Despite these challenges, he holds no regrets about his decision to join the PAC and continues to support player directors.

"The one thing I do know is we're not going to please everyone, but everyone should know that I will stand behind these player directors."

While Scott hopes that PGA Tour members will not dwell excessively on reunification topics, he recognizes potential discontent should such a move occur.

"I wouldn't be surprised — or I wouldn't judge anyone, the members — if reunification happened and they weren't happy with how it happened."
