Broncos Gear Up as Dre Greenlaw Returns for Divisional Round

Dre Greenlaw is set to make a significant impact in the upcoming divisional round game against the Buffalo Bills at Empower Field at Mile High. After a difficult season of dealing with the injury bug, Greenlaw resumed practice on Tuesday. His return signals that he’s prepared to toughen up the team’s lackluster defense. In March, Denver rewarded Greenlaw with a three-year, $31.5 million deal. He was arguably their most impactful free agency signing last offseason.

THIS YEAR, Greenlaw had the odds stacked against him, missing nine games with injuries and a suspension. He had already missed half of that total—six games—earlier in the season due to a thigh injury. Then, he missed the final two games of the regular season with a hamstring injury. His return will be beneficial in Broncos’ first test against resurgent opponents in the Bills.

Jeff Legwold, who has covered the Broncos for over 20 years for ESPN, highlighted Greenlaw’s significance to the team’s defense. “It’s been nice to have a healthy Dre Greenlaw back in the fold,” Kyle said when talking about the linebacker’s return. Greenlaw returns to action! The Broncos are chomping at the bit to add to their stingy defense as they look to make a playoff run in their Super Bowl season.

The Broncos entered the game as the second-best team in the league at stopping the run. Even more notably, they accomplished this miracle in the face of amazing adversity throughout the year. They’ll require every bit of this support to challenge James Cook III. He led the entire league with 1,621 rushing yards, while posting a highly-efficient 5.25 yards per carry average.

His teammate Nik Bonitto is preparing for the game telling stories based on last year’s contest against the Bills. He said, truthfully, “Obviously they kicked our ass last year. This recognition of lackluster play during the previous campaign fuels a heightened sense of need to get things right this time around.

With the Broncos looking to close out the regular season strong on their way to the postseason, Greenlaw’s presence might just be a game-changer. His knowledge and abilities would provide the jolt Denver so desperately needs. Like Baltimore, they are hoping to make a deeper run into the playoffs.
