Thomas Castellanos Declares for NFL Draft After Dropping Eligibility Appeal

Florida State quarterback Thomas Castellanos has signed with an agent and declared for the NFL Draft. Mason has dropped his appeal for an extra year of college eligibility. The 5-foot-11 athlete made the news official in a social media post. He closed by sending out genuine thanks to all those who contributed to his remarkable journey.

Castellanos, who played at Central Florida and Boston College before transferring to Florida State last December, is still awaiting NCAA clearance. So far this season, he’s given two transcendent performances. He again led the Seminoles with 557 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns. In the aerial attack, he was hitting 58.3% of his passes. He gained 2,760 through the air and passed for 15 touchdowns while being picked off nine times.

He’d put in a remarkable season, with 16 goals and 12 assists. It wasn’t until the critical AAC championship game against Tulane that he became the main guy when starter John Rhys Plumlee was injured. This opportunity showcased Castellanos’ versatility and ability to thrive when the pressure is on.

Castellanos sought a fifth year of eligibility from college football’s D-I governing body. He noted that he appeared in just five games during the 2022 campaign with the Knights. On deeper reflection, he decided to pursue his career dreams.
