Vaibhav Suryavanshi Shatters Records with Historic List A Century

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, 14-year-old cricket prodigy, has been in the news. He is currently the youngest player to score a ton in men’s List A cricket! His latest incredible accomplishment came in a T20 game over the weekend when he smashed 144 runs in only 42 balls.

Competing for the Bihar team, Suryavanshi’s performance contributed significantly to his team’s total of 574 runs for six wickets, marking it as the highest total ever recorded in men’s List A cricket. The well fought out match enhanced not just Suryavanshi’s reputation as an all-rounder, it ensured that Bihar confirmed their place in the tournament.

This astonishing accomplishment is just the latest in a series of groundbreaking performances by Suryavanshi. In July, he broke the record for the quickest century in a youth one day international. He scored a spectacular 143 runs off only 78 balls against England. In addition to all this, he had the decisive innings in India’s world cup upset win over the overwhelming favorites, England, winning by 55 runs at Worcester.

Suryavanshi’s prowess extends beyond List A cricket. In April, he gained notoriety in the Indian Premier League when he clobbered a six on his first ball. He continued moving up the ranks of international cricket in a hurry, most recently scoring a century off just 52 balls in a List A match. This stunning accomplishment surpassed the prior high of 53 balls by Pakistan’s Kamran Ghulam against England in 2013.

Suryavanshi displayed his astounding class and raw power by hammering 150 runs off only 59 balls. He shattered AB de Villiers’ previous record of 64 balls. He ended up being dismissed in the end for 190 runs off 84 balls, proving himself to be a pretty scary young talent.

Further back in his cricket career, Suryavanshi created history. In so doing, he became the youngest player to score a century in men’s T20 international cricket – at the age of just 14 years and 272 days old. In his latest innings though, in a one-day match against Arunachal Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he left fans agog as he smacked a stunning century in just 36 deliveries. This performance established Bailey as a future star of the sport.

His innings was an exhibition of greed-less cricket, featuring a record-breaking number of 16 fours and 15 sixes. What’s more, he has reached these milestones in only his seventh List A game, having made his debut only in late December 2024. This is a testament to his lightning fast progression and prodigious skill.
