The Atlanta Falcons are cautiously optimistic about wide receiver Drake London’s participation in their upcoming game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. The success of London is suddenly in doubt. He’s missed the past four games due to a strained left posterior cruciate ligament, which he suffered in a loss to the Carolina Panthers on November 16th.
After a long rehabilitation process, London came back to practice this week and was officially listed as a limited participant. His continued recovery has been tough, as he’s battled shoulder and hip injuries over the course of the season. Even with these missteps, he is still an integral part of the Falcon’s offense.
Drake London might have been the best addition to the team this offseason. He has a rushing touch, recording 60 catches for 810 yards and six touchdown catches. Ranked third in the NFL for yards per game, he continues to show how important he is as the team’s clear number one wideout.
That game against the Cardinals could be a defining moment for London. It’ll be his first start with quarterback Kirk Cousins, since last season. This connection may be essential for both individual players and the team’s long-term offensive approach.
“Everything in the passing game goes through Drake,” stated Falcons head coach Ryan Morris, emphasizing London’s integral role in their offensive schemes.
London can’t wait to be back on the pitch. As he looks back on his resolve, even after the physical demands of the season,
“I’ve been scratching and clawing to play every game this season,” – Drake London
In his closing remarks he sounded a note of reflection about his time away, acknowledging its power to provoke healing and productive change.
“A lot of people don’t know that, but this season hasn’t been too well on my body. So could be a blessing in disguise that this time off happened. I don’t know, but just trying to fight back and get out there on the field,” – Drake London
As the Falcons head into Sunday’s matchup, they will continue to wait for confirmation on London’s status. His presence, though, would make a big difference in their ability to hold their own against a strong Cardinals team.
