Rangers Bring in Bjørnebye to Enhance Football Strategy Ahead of Transfer Window

Rangers Football Club has brought in former Liverpool defender Bjørnebye as a consultant. This is a key decision to reinforce its football operations in advance of 2019’s January transfer window. Bjørnebye most recently served as technical director at Danish club Brøndby IF. To be clear, this week he’ll begin at Ibrox and work hand-in-hand with the club’s current football executive team.

Bjørnebye’s career is nothing short of remarkable, with well over 300 appearances under his belt for clubs like Liverpool and Blackburn Rovers. Prior to that, he served on the coaching staff at the Danish club Aarhus. There, he facilitated a transparent process to secure crucial sporting wins. Prior to this, he was the sporting director at Rosenborg. During that time, he learned tremendously about how to develop players and create a team environment.

Rangers taking an exciting plunge with marquee signing to shore up their roster. They’ve still been performing admirably under interim head coach Jörg Röhl, following the departure of Russell Martin. At the same time, Andrew Cavenagh, who is currently running the show, has already interviewed at least one candidate for the permanent job. Cavenagh reiterated his commitment to taking the time necessary to find the best possible fit for the club.

The ultimate decisions on any final transfers will be up to Cavenagh and vice-chair Paraag Marathe. Bjørnebye’s position will focus on improving the overall footballing strategy. He will have a particular focus on planning and work ahead of the January transfer window.
