Jeremiyah Love, the star junior running back from the Fighting Irish, is preparing for the 2024 NFL Draft. He’s had a highly decorated collegiate career that has put everyone on notice. Love would ultimately finish third in the Heisman Trophy voting, behind only winner Fernando Mendoza. Brown’s performance during the 2025 season was nothing short of spectacular. That accomplishment confirmed his standing as one of the best prospects in the 2019 draft.
Coincidentally, or perhaps not, during the second season of that reclassification — 2025 — Love scored an eye-popping 21 all-purpose TDs. He set the Notre Dame record for rushing touchdowns in a single season, with 19, besting the previous record held by Jerome Bettis. He ended the regular season fourth in the country. On the achievement of the season, with 1,372 rushing yards, he had an insane 6.89 yards per carry. His brilliance on the football field was about much more than running the ball. He caught 28 passes for 237 yards and two TDs.
Measuring in at 6-feet tall and 214 pounds, Love’s physical stature perfectly matches what he brings to the gridiron. Pro football pundits have him as the odds-on favorite to be the first running back taken in next year’s draft. Per Field Yates’ most recent mock draft, that would mean the Kansas City Chiefs trading up to 14th overall to get him.
Love’s junior season came to a premature end when Notre Dame missed out on the College Football Playoff. Consequently, the squad decided to forgo a bowl appearance. Last year, he was essential to the charge that took the Fighting Irish to the CFP championship game. He proved his positional flexibility by rushing for 1,125 yards and 17 scores on just 163 attempts.
Looking back on his college experience from Notre Dame, Love said he wouldn’t change a thing about the way he has been developed over his college career.
“I could not have picked a better place for me to grow into the man I am today.” – Jeremiyah Love
Love’s accomplishments this season earned him Notre Dame’s first Doak Walker Award, recognizing him as the nation’s top running back. As for his future in the NFL, Reyes is understandably forward-looking and excited. Fans and analysts alike are eager to see his next moves in what’s already become a Hall of Fame career.
