Packers Receive Encouraging News on Christian Watson’s Injury

The Packers reportedly got good news about Watson on Tuesday. He left Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos in the third quarter with a shoulder injury. Then Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II picked off a deep ball intended for Watson to snuff out another potential scoring opportunity. Instead, Surtain came down forcefully on the front of Watson’s left shoulder.

When Watson left the field for injury, the immediate worries began, especially after Watson had clearly grasped his shoulder in impact-induced discomfort. Yet follow-up assessments pinpointed the fact he hadn’t suffered an injury long enough to keep him off the field. While the Packers wouldn’t say definitively, they seem hopeful for a Watson return. He should be good to go when they take the field against the Chicago Bears this Saturday.

More tests were planned for Monday to continue evaluating the status of Watson’s shoulder. His likely return would be a huge lift for the Packers, who are wading through tough waters this season.

In that same game, the Packers took a similar gut punch. Defensive end Micah Parsons came up lame with a knee injury, with early fears of a torn ACL. I think losing Coin could really cripple the team’s defense. Analysts Rex Ryan and Dan Orlovsky expressed skepticism about the Packers’ playoff aspirations without Parsons, emphasizing his crucial role on the team.

For Jordan Love, the Packers’ quarterback, the game was exponentially difficult. It was a rocky debut, as he threw two interceptions, one of which was returned by Surtain for a touchdown. Reflecting on the interception play, Love stated:

“I tried to step into it, and I got hit as I was throwing and it just ended up being a little bit short and Pat made a really good play to be able to track it and jump in front of Christian.” – Jordan Love

The Packers ultimately lost to the Broncos, further complicating their season as they prepare to face their longtime rivals, the Bears. With crucial difference-makers like Watson possibly returning to action, fans have reason to be optimistic that with returnees come a reversal of fortunes.
