Shedeur Sanders has quickly become one of the biggest storylines of… Since becoming the starting quarterback, he’s been nothing short of spectacular. He’s first among all rookie quarterbacks in passing yards and touchdown passes since earning his first start in Week 12. His recent performance against the Tennessee Titans cemented his position. Further, he became only the second rookie, in addition to Joe Burrow, to accomplish 350-plus passing yards, three-or-more touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown in a game.
Sanders’ contributions were evident in last Sunday’s game, where he accounted for a remarkable 394 total yards and four touchdowns in the Browns’ narrow 31-29 loss. This performance was his third straight start, a span in which he’s shown the poise and competitiveness to make the Eagles’ offense dangerous with him at the helm.
Cleveland’s season has been a disaster, as they sit 3-10 with an official playoff elimination already. Through it all, Sanders remains laser-focused in the moment. For now, he’s been entrusted by coach Kevin Stefanski to be the Cleveland starter for the last four games of the regular season.
Sanders made clear he wasn’t looking past this season.
“I got to focus on playing my best and being the best player I can for the team. And obviously the situations are different,” – Shedeur Sanders
He understood just how critical this opportunity was. He downplayed the notion that it’s an audition these last games for a starting spot in 2026. Rather, he said he wants to get better all around, week by week.
“This is my life here. So we on two different spectrums right now,” – Shedeur Sanders
Sanders never takes his eyes off the discussion around the NFL that the Browns will be looking for a new quarterback. This excitement is amplified with two first-round picks in the upcoming 2026 NFL draft. He’s still determined to take control of things he can control, and for him that means zeroing in on just his own performance.
“I just go here, enjoy my day, work hard, do everything I can, and if I’m here, I’m here. If I’m not, I’m not. It’s nothing in my control,” – Shedeur Sanders
As The Evaluation Period continues, Sanders is taking the necessary steps to become a major piece of the Browns’ future. Coach Stefanski’s decision to keep him as a starter reflects confidence in his abilities, while Sanders’ resolve to improve weekly could shape not only his career but the trajectory of the Browns’ franchise.
