Bojan Miovski continued his hot start for Rangers, scoring a brace in a 5-0 rout of Kilmarnock. His hat-trick match against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park showed what he could accomplish. His introduction immediately helped the team, increasing his total goals scored to three since his summer transfer from Girona. His goals became especially important during their campaign as Rangers sought to establish themselves in the league.
Miovski’s first goal opened the scoring within the first minutes of the match. Rangers forced Kilmarnock back into their own third of the pitch. Displaying impressive anticipation and awareness, Miovski made the most of the pressure, shooting the ball low past Kilmarnock’s goalkeeper, Tobi Oluwayemi. This very early goal tempered the mood for the next ninety minutes. It exemplified the Rangers’ attacking quality and their ability to pounce on opponents’ defensive errors.
Though he had three chances to shoot at goal, Miovski showed his unselfishness by choosing to assist his teammates, including an impressive back-heeled layoff. His tactical awareness was evident, but it was Connor Barron who nearly thwarted Rangers’ efforts when he cleared a potential goal off the line, showcasing Kilmarnock’s determination to stay in the contest.
As the game wore on, Mikey Moore replaced him off the bench. Then, by the 81st minute, he raised the bar even further on Rangers’ scoring. His insertion into the game only shifted momentum more firmly in favor of Rangers. Suffice to say, not all of Moore’s contributions were acknowledged. He saw a second goal ruled out for a foul on Emmanuel Fernandez in the build up.
The contest was not without its frustrations on either side. Kilmarnock’s Nedim Bajrami was injured midway through the first half and his departure heralded a shift in momentum. Findlay Curtis would come in to fill his place on the paddock. This change disrupted Kilmarnock’s defensive structure and provided Rangers with more opportunities to exploit gaps in their opponent’s lineup.
Jack Butland was in brilliant form for Rangers, denying Kilmarnock on a number of occasions with his safe pair of hands to prevent them from leveling. His performance, coupled with the attacking prowess displayed by Miovski and Moore, underscored the collective effort that led to Rangers’ victory.
