Late Equalizer Secures Draw for Preston Against Wrexham at Deepdale

On 6 December 2025, Preston North End faced Wrexham AFC at Deepdale Stadium. The match was highly competitive, and it ended in a 1-1 stalemate. After two excellent early chances fell to his teammate, Kieffer Moore opened the scoring early for Wrexham, netting a goal in the fourth minute. Arthur Okonkwo’s performance was channelled momentum for Wrexham in the first half. He had a number of important interventions, none more than an exceptional double save versus Thierry Small that prevented Preston from going ahead. Okonkwo’s performance was highlighted with his tremendous header-tipped save of Andrew Hughes’ header round the post. He scratched out another effort from Jordan Storey, showing he can anticipate play and react in a split second.

Preston’s Alfie Devine was the man to respond, with a wonderfully important save to help the PNE cause. His speedy anticipation denied Wrexham several more goals. After the break, the two teams went back-and-forth in an intense battle as both squads traded opportunities. Neither could take advantage until the key minutes late in the match.

Late Drama and a Shared Result

With the clock running down, Preston pressed hard to get a goal back. For Harrison Armstrong, his insistence on righting the ship was rewarded as he scored the 81st minute winner. This important target brought the match square and spared Preston the humiliation of consecutive home massacres. In the last few minutes, both teams pushed to try and take the win, but both had to be content with a 2 – 2 draw. The victory left Wrexham with nine league matches without defeat, an impressive unbeaten run which was being stretched. Preston had something to celebrate too, of course, as they earned a crucial away point.
