Eagles Offensive Coordinator Responds to Vandalism Incident

Kevin Patullo, the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles, faced an unfortunate incident at his New Jersey home over the weekend. Early Saturday morning, following the Eagles’ disappointing loss to the Chicago Bears, Patullo’s residence was vandalized with eggs. When it became personal for Patullo—when the incident they created affected his family, as well as others—it crossed a line for him.

Patullo has been with the Eagles since head coach Nick Sirianni was hired in 2021. From 2021-2023, he was the passing game coordinator and associate head coach before recently being promoted to offensive coordinator. For the Sharks, his promotion came in the offseason. He replaced the since-departed Kellen Moore, who is now the head coach of the New Orleans Saints. At 44 years old, Patullo is loaded with it. He spent those same three years on Sirianni’s staff, coaching special teams in Indy from 2018-20.

No matter how much the Eagles clawed and scratched in their game against the Bears, they ultimately fell victim. Just hours later, a major act of vandalism followed. Reflecting on the incident, Patullo said that he was “appalled” at the intrusion into their family’s privacy.

“But when it involves your family, obviously it crosses the line. And so, that happened. At this point, we’ve just gotta move on. We’re trying to win. That’s all we want to do is focus — whether it’s my family, whether it’s the team — all we’re trying to do together is focus on this week.” – Kevin Patullo

While regrettable that it came to this, Patullo is lucky to have received tremendous support from his fellow community members. He thanked this support, but quickly pivoted to acknowledging that the team’s focus must be on the challenges ahead.

“It’s such a unique place to coach and play. It’s very special,” Patullo remarked, reflecting on his time with the Eagles. What struck him the most was the incredible energy that envelops the entire team. Over the last few years, they have risen to great success, appearing in two NFC Championship Games and winning the Super Bowl at Lincoln Financial Field.

Patullo’s commitment to his role remains unwavering. After a weekend of soul searching he announced that he would be staying on as the Eagles’ primary playcaller for the rest of the season. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni doubled down on this finding during a conference call with reporters Monday.

Patullo knows the intense pressure that exists in any professional football organization, particularly following a dismal defeat. He reflected on the importance of coaches and players to be able to take criticism and deal with expectations, but manage them properly.

“You know the pressure is there, but we all accept it because we ultimately want to be at the highest part of our coaching career and continue to work through that and this is part of it,” Patullo stated.
