O’Neill Anticipates Last Match as Celtic Interim Manager Ahead of Nancy’s Arrival

Martin O’Neill, aged 73, has confirmed that he expects his upcoming match against Hibernian on Sunday to be his last as Celtic’s interim manager. By October, O’Neill was back in the Celtic dugout, completing a return 20 years after his first spell at Parkhead.

In a uncommon needs place interview right now with Sky Sports News, O’Neill respond towards the extended running pursuit to discover a brand new Celtic full-time supervisor. He expressed optimism about the team’s current state, stating, “Hopefully, he’ll find a side that is bubbling with a bit of confidence, which is great, and that’s a restoration of that there, I suppose, from previous weeks in that sense.”

The interim manager was full of praise for his teams’ fighting spirit after recent performances. One of the matches they pinpointed was the moment everything changed for their squad. “The best example of that was against Feyenoord. We were a goal behind after 11 minutes, when we probably should have been one in front. Heads could have easily gone down, but no, they fought back, played some great, great stuff, and we won. We deserved to win a game in Holland, in the Europa League,” O’Neill recalled.

As O’Neill prepares for his final match at the helm, reports indicate that Wilfried Nancy, currently the manager of Columbus Crew and aged 48, is set to take over as Celtic’s new manager. Nancy is about to close his own deal in a matter of days. He should make his debut in charge of Celtic at home to Dundee in the Premiership on Wednesday.

Nancy’s stellar public management career speaks for itself. He won the Canadian Championship with CF Montreal, then took Columbus Crew to a pair of championships, the MLS Cup and Leagues Cup. O’Neill recognized Nancy’s preparedness for the role, saying, “He’ll have a fair idea of what he’s coming into, and he doesn’t need any guidance from me.”

Celtic looks forward to exciting times with Nancy’s new direction. O’Neill leaves with confidence, having built a team that seems ready to tackle the challenge that lies ahead.
