A.J. Brown Addresses Performance Questions Amid Season Struggles

If you follow pro football, you’ve seen Philadelphia Eagles wideout A.J. Now, he’s not only turning the heads of fans in awe of his play this year, but he’s providing some wildly honest answers about his production this season. In just nine games, Brown has already amassed 38 catches for 457 yards and three touchdowns. At this rate, he’s headed for just 812 yards on the season, which would be his lowest total since entering the NFL.

Yet when reporters asked him about his seeming drop-off in production, Brown got defensive real fast. He shot back with a joke, “ask me about Dallas. This response speaks to his mindset of always looking ahead at the next game, like the Dallas Cowboys this Thursday night, instead of focusing on personal stats.

Even with the adversity this year, Brown is feeling better about the Eagles’ offense moving forward. Quinn echoed the sentiment that the team is on the cusp of really clicking, but that it’s critical to clean up mistakes and find ways to finish drives. “We’re desperate, too. We’re trying to get it going,” he remarked, indicating a collective urgency within the squad.

Brown has been vocal about his frustrations this season both on Twitter and in press appearances, and for good reason. His career-low projection is probably driving this emotional reaction. He’s on pace to end the year with less than 900 receiving yards – an 860-yard difference from his production over the last two years.

When asked if he was concerned about other wideouts such as CeeDee Lamb, Brown flashed that signature grin and shot the question down with a definitive no. He added when he sees himself compared to others “makes A.J. Brown mad. His attention still appears to be too tuned in to individually raising his level, as opposed to judging the performance of those around him.

Beyond that, Brown spoke to questions about if he’s the player he used to be. In a quick retort, he said, “I guess Saquon [Barkley] ain’t the same player either, then,” underscoring his belief that such assessments are often misguided.

There’s a time and place for everything, Brown said. At the moment, I’m more concerned with keeping us on course in the face of outside naysayers questioning my work’s effectiveness. This mindset highlights his dedication to improving and contributing positively to the Eagles’ overall success as they prepare for their next matchup.
