Jets Cornerback Kris Boyd Recovering After Shooting Incident

Kris Boyd, a 29-year-old cornerback for the New York Jets, was shot in the abdomen around 4 a.m. on Sunday. He is back home and on the road to recovery. The hit and run happened shortly after 2 a.m. ET outside a restaurant in Manhattan, sending Boyd to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

After the shooting, Boyd was in and out of medical treatment while a medical team worked to extract a bullet from his right lung. Originally entered in critical but stable condition at Bellevue Hospital, his condition has now been upgraded to stable. The Jets organization is extremely optimistic that Boyd will eventually make a full recovery, as he continues to be monitored in Manhattan by team medical personnel.

At the time of the standoff, Boyd was with fellow teammates Jamien Sherwood and Irvin Charles. Boyd had been involved in a fight with a group of people, according to reports. Among them is the man police are actively pursuing in connection with the shooting.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn spoke positively about Boyd’s condition, stating, “That’s what eases my mind, that he’s in good spirits.” As Glenn noted, the Boyd family continues to be supportive in spite of this most difficult time for them.

“His wife and his kid, they’re in good spirits, and he’ll walk away from this just fine.” – Aaron Glenn

It’s been a tough road back for Boyd, who was added to season-ending injured reserve earlier this season with a shoulder injury. Even so, the difference he’s made for the squad is immeasurable. He signed a one-year, $1.6 million deal with the New York Jets before the start of the season. Now, he’s playing his way into being known as one of the league’s best special teams players.

In the wake of that incident, Aaron Glenn spoke about the need to handle issues like this internally. He stated, “You absolutely have to address this with the team, because you don’t want anything like this to ever happen to anybody on your team, to anybody outside of the building and other teams.” Glenn’s comments shed a great deal of light on the organization’s commitment to the safety and well-being of its players.

Boyd proved his endurance when he delivered some good news to fans. He even shared a picture of himself grinning from ear to ear on his Instagram Story. This uplifting story provides a glimpse into Collins’ recovery and beautiful spirit as he commits to pursuing his dreams despite facing unimaginable odds.
