The Indianapolis Colts are off to a surprising start with a 7-2 record. They’ll face off against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 10 at Berlin Germany’s Olympiastadion. This matchup marks the NFL’s fifth regular-season game in Germany. It’s not only the first of its kind, but the first ever in the capital city, after prior editions in Munich and Frankfurt. With a chance to reclaim momentum, the Colts are determined to bounce back from what they termed their ugliest performance of the season.
In their recent Week 9 matchup, the Colts took on the Pittsburgh Steelers and were completely dominated on the field. They turned the ball over a ridiculous six times. It resulted in a heartbreaking defeat. It further established a new season record for the most turnovers committed by any team in a single game. Quarterback Daniel Jones was especially haunted, compiling a career-high five turnovers on his way to the woeful performance that sunk the Giants’ ship. The Colts are getting ready to take on the Atlanta Falcons. They have plenty of motivation to atone for their errors and prevent falling victim to their first consecutive losses of the season.
Despite their recent struggles, the Colts remain tied for the second-best record in the NFL alongside the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots. With their 9–3 record, they currently sit in second place in the AFC seeding. At 30% odds of claiming the No. 1 seed in the conference, the 6-2 Buffalo Bills are at the top of the heap. Going into kickoff against Atlanta, the Colts have more than a 27% chance to get their hands on that precious top seed. With a victory, their chances would jump to 33%, but with a loss, those odds might drop all the way down to 15%.
As these Colts get ready for what will be their biggest game in Berlin so far, they’re hardly oblivious to the stakes. The key for the team will be to limit mistakes and play their game as best they can. A victory against the Falcons would be a monumental step towards their own playoff push. It’s equally important to get them ready to rebound their confidence after a difficult close defeat last week.
