NFL’s Week 10 was filled with excitement, jaw-dropping plays and players taking over games. De’Von Achane of the Miami Dolphins sealed a critical game with a stunning 59-yard touchdown run, while Jonathan Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts delivered a performance that solidified his status as one of the league’s top running backs. The excitement continued with impressive plays from Jerry Jeudy, TreVeyon Henderson, and Kyle Williams, each contributing to their teams’ successes in various ways.
The Denver Broncos attempted to set a 61-year-old record this week. They accrued a mind-bending 46 sacks in only ten games, blending the dizzying extreme of insane upside with the nauseating extreme of total chaos. The Pittsburgh Steelers were perhaps the worst NFL offense to ever step on a field, finishing their game with just 11 first downs. With those notes, the Dolphins and Colts have formed into powerhouse contenders across the entire league, with each team playing an interesting style of resilience and pessimist destruction.
Achane and Taylor Shine Bright
De’Von Achane’s electrifying 59-yard touchdown run not only clinched the game for the Dolphins but highlighted his explosive speed and playmaking abilities. His performance couldn’t have come at a better time, helping to keep Miami within striking distance of competing.
No one had a better display of skill than Jonathan Taylor. It’s being hailed as the best all-around performance by a running back in the NFL this year. His 83-yard touchdown run in the second quarter vaulted him to become the Colts’ all-time leader in rushing touchdowns. His already legendary performance led the league to victory over the mighty Atlanta Falcons and inspired hope and confidence in his previously beleaguered team.
“It doesn’t matter the deficit we’re at, it doesn’t matter how much we’re up, it doesn’t matter what happened throughout the game. We can come through as a team. That’s what we did today.” – Kyle Williams
Achane and Taylor itched impressive but Jerry Jeudy has a monster performance as well in his case game of the year. Under new offensive coordinator Tommy Rees’s direction, Jeudy demonstrated how some shifts in play-calling can have immediate dividends. As franchises adjust to the new approach, players such as Jeudy are just answering the bell and finding chances to make plays.
Speed and Defense Take Center Stage
>Week 10 was all about speed! TreVeyon Henderson hit an incredible top speed of 22.01 mph on his 55-yard touchdown run. This highlighted not only his impressive athleticism but the coaching staff’s creativity and talent to get the most out of players’ strengths. Kyle Williams entertained fans with a truly electrifying catch-and-run touchdown. With this effort, he reached a great top speed of 21.78 mph, proving how necessary speed is to making average plays spectacularly special.
Tyrice Knight defended the baseline beautifully to grab headlines defensively in the first quarter of their matchup against Anderson. He caused two fumbles, both of which resulted in scoop-and-scores! His violent impact on defense set the tone early, giving his team the opportunity to establish momentum.
Write about the Denver Broncos, and their defense, specifically how great they’ve been at making history. They’ve already hit the quarterback an astounding 46 times in only ten games. That statistic puts them on pace to break the record that has lasted fortuitously since 1984.
Struggles for Teams and Players
For every player that excelled on the field, there were those who struggled to find their footing. The Pittsburgh Steelers had a rough go at it versus opponents in 2022. Denver converted 2 of 11 third downs and picked up 11 first downs total in 12 possessions. This offensive futility made it very difficult to believe that they would be able to effectively contend moving forward.
Rodgers has made a living this season on his quick throws. In a close, high-pressure game, he had little success making those throws. As clubs try to figure out how best to proceed, displays like this one will force coaches to re-evaluate their approach.
Hunter and the Jaguars’ D-backs pitch a fourth-quarter shutout. It’s an impressive feat that proves great defensive execution is the smartest path to victory in a slugfest.
“I’m definitely hard on TreVeyon because I see so much potential,” – Stefon Diggs
