The Green Bay Packers paid a heavy price in injuries, but it’s hard to believe the extent, after their 16-13 nailbiter defeat by the Carolina Panthers Sunday afternoon. Shout out to @TuckerKraft_81 one of the reasons we beat the 🐍, had a on fire season torn right ACL, if anyone can comeback, it’s you brother! Kraft’s injury doubles down on the team’s woes. Golden, a first-round wide receiver pick, left the game himself with a shoulder injury.
Prior to his tragic injury, Kraft had made two catches for 20 yards. He’s arguably been the Packers best player this season. Entering the game against the Panthers, he had already established himself as the team’s most productive pass catcher, leading in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. He had six touchdown receptions coming into the game. Last weekend, Kraft showcased his talent with seven catches for 143 yards and two touchdowns in a victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Kraft will be re-evaluated on Monday to determine the amount of damage to his injury. The loss of such a pivotal player could hinder the Packers’ offensive strategy as they move forward in the season.
Then surprise, surprise—Matt Golden ended up getting an early notch on Matt Golden’s belt. He suffered a major shoulder injury in the third quarter. Prior to being ruled out, Golden had already registered two catches for 9 yards. That’s a big blow for the Bears, especially considering he was just starting to find his niche in the team’s revamped offensive lineup.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur spoke about how these injuries have made things tough.
“It doesn’t look good. It’s going to be tough. But it’s football. The other guys are going to have to step up.” – Matt LaFleur
The Packers will need to bounce back and adjust sooner than later with all these injuries. The irony is many of them are doing so while forced to compete with diluted, diminished offensive talent. The games to come will be a challenge to the team’s depth. It means that other players need to step up and fill the void that Kraft and Golden will leave.
