In the bright world of major league sports, there is a string of cities that are known for their impressive supremacy on the ultimate victory platform. Los Angeles, Boston, and New York/New Jersey have established themselves as the winningest regions, showcasing an impressive array of sports franchises that have captured numerous titles over the years.
Los Angeles’ total of 37 championships in all sports ranks first among U.S. cities. The city has the great fortune of claiming the Los Angeles Lakers, perennial heavyweights in the NBA. They’ve won four titles, with three of those championships coming before the franchise’s relocation from Minneapolis. In so doing, the Los Angeles Dodgers have secured an indelible place in Major League Baseball. They’ve won a magnificent nine World Series titles! Worse yet, the Boston Red Sox, now like another iconic franchise, have increased this grim tally to four. Further, the New England Patriots have deepened Boston’s legacy in the National Football League by winning six Super Bowl titles.
Together, New York and New Jersey have an overwhelming grip on the championship count with an incredible 58 championships. This entire teams successful cities paints a vivid picture of that area rich with winning squads from every sport. The New York Yankees, arguably the most storied franchise in all of professional sports. They have happily accepted 27 World Championships titles. Inspired by the success of the two conference champions, none other than the New York Giants have contributed four Super Bowl championships to the metropolitan area’s NFL legacy.
New York/New Jersey has been home to some of our oldest, most storied franchises. The New Jersey Devils have popped three Stanley Cup corks in the NHL, and the New York Knicks have won two NBA championships. The WNBA’s New York Liberty and MLS’s New York City FC contribute to the region’s impressive championship tally.
