Atlanta Hawks Star Trae Young Out Four Weeks with Knee Sprain

Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young will be out at least four weeks with a grade two ankle sprain. He incurred a sprained MCL in his right knee. The loss was suffered within the opening frame of the Hawks’ 114-90 win over the Brooklyn Nets on November 1st, 2025. Young got himself hurt as Mouhamed Gueye was shoved by Noah Clowney. Gueye threw himself defensively into Young’s elevated leg as he was shooting underneath the bucket.

After the game, Young got an MRI on Friday that showed no significant structural damage to his knee. Multiple medical evaluations validated that my injuries could have been far more extensive. That’s a better news deal coming with a player getting a much more hopeful future jointed to with the team. Young’s recovery will be watched, with a reevaluation planned in four weeks.

As the last season’s assists champ, Young has beeb arguably the most important player for the Hawks this season. He’s putting up an impressive 17.8 points and 7.8 assists per game on the season. Last year he scored 24.2 points and dished out 11.6 assists per game, demonstrating just how vital he is to the Sixers offensive continuity and flow. His absence will certainly be felt by the Hawks, as they mingle through a loaded competitive CAA this fall.

Jalen Johnson, a teammate of Young, emphasized his value to the team, stating, “He’s the best in the world at being a playmaker and scorer.” Johnson conveyed extreme faith in his team’s flexibility. He added, “We’re all focused and very hard working. Everyone listens and we respect our film sessions, and if we continue to get better every game and come to the field with that winning mentality, everything will take care of itself.”

The Atlanta Hawks came into this season with a lot more hype than normal, putting even more pressure and stakes of Young’s injury on the franchise. His playmaking ability and scoring prowess are invaluable assets to their long-term plan. Fans and analysts alike will be paying close attention as Young takes his first steps on the road to recovery.
