Anthony Davis, prize forward of the Dallas Mavericks, departed the floor on October 29, 2025 against the Indiana Pacers. He experienced pain in his left lower leg and needed to leave the game. This incident occurred in Q1. By halftime, the team made the decision to rule him out to get a better look at what was going on.
The game took a concerning turn with 4:12 remaining in the first quarter when Davis crouched down on the sideline following a timeout called by the Mavericks. Just like that, after a few minutes, he waved to the team’s bench that he needed to exit the court. After scoring on a run earlier in the quarter, he immediately appeared to limp. This should have and did raise alarm bells with his teammates and coaching staff right away. Minutes after calling for help, Davis went to the locker room for more assessment.
This injury is just the latest in a long line of physical maladies for Davis, whose tenure with the Mavs has been riddled with misfortune. At the time of his trade, he was still recovering from an abdominal injury. In his Dallas debut, he went down with a strained adductor, which kept him on the shelf for six weeks. Last year, he was only able to suit up for nine regular-season games, making his long-term durability a concern already.
Davis, who turned 32 earlier this week, had been listed as probable on the pregame injury report. His bilateral Achilles tendinopathy is a wildcard, as he is one of the cornerstones of the Mavericks franchise. Davis’s health and performance are key to the Lakers hopes of contending this season. He assumes a central role in the historic package sending Luka Doncic to the Clippers.
Our own Tim MacMahon first reported the incident, and broke down what this could mean for both Davis and the Mavericks. Moving forward with a challenging schedule awaiting the team, the biggest priority going forward is keeping Davis healthy. That’ll go a long way in helping them figure out how soon he can return to action.
