West Indies defeats Bangladesh in the 2nd T20 match handily on Thursday. With this win, they were able to walk away with the series win in their pockets. Bangladesh came into the match blazing hot. They were unable to maintain the pressure and went on to post a score that the West Indies comfortably surpassed.
Tanzid Hasan Tamim was the brightest star for Bangladesh, batting imperiously to 61 runs. His innings served as a bright spot on an awful night for the team, as he added the majority of their runs himself. Other key players faltered. Saif Hassan was dismissed for a mere 5 runs and Litton Das mustered just 23 runs. Tawhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali Anik added 12 and 17 respectively, but the middle order fell apart in the face of rising pressure. Shamim Hossain contributed just 1 run, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib only 8. Nasum Ahmed managed only 2 runs, and Rishad Hossain had a duck (0 runs).
Every one of the West Indies bowlers showed up to play in the high-pressure innings. Romario Shepherd led the charge, taking a remarkable 3/23. He accomplished this feat while giving up just 29 runs in his 4 overs. Akeal Hosein mirrored this performance, taking 3 wickets too while only giving up 22 runs in his 4 overs. Jason Holder gave excellent support, taking 2 wickets for 20 runs in his 4 over spell.
Bangladesh’s innings was ended for a paltry total, as they never managed to get over the early damage done by losing their captain. The West Indies bowlers were ruthless, sticking to tight lines and lengths and not allowing the Bangladesh batsmen to settle or build combinations.
In reply, the West Indies achieved the target comfortably. Their batting lineup really showed its depth and resilience, making sure that they reached the finish line with time to spare. The victory not only proved their superiority in the series but brought their high caliber bowling to the forefront.
