Oklahoma City Thunder Poised for Championship Repeat in NBA 2K26 Simulation

K Games recently ran an official simulation of the as-yet unreleased 2025-26 NBA season, creating a whole lot of hype in the process. When plugged into our simulation, this roster leads us to predict the Oklahoma City Thunder will win consecutive championships. With this landmark victory, they will cement their status as the league’s most important power players.

The basis for the Thunder’s expected success lies in their star players exceeding expectations. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the team’s breakout guard of 2022-23, should be looking at a guaranteed All-NBA First Team nomination this spring. This award showcases the stunning impact he’s had, steering the Thunder’s quest for yet another championship. Alongside him, several other superstars are expected to be nominated for the prestigious All-NBA First Team, including Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

In a notable development within the simulation, Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs has emerged as a key player. He’s widely expected to win the Defensive Player of the Year award if it isn’t given to teammate Aaron Donald. His defensive prowess, which specifically anchors the team’s long and athletic defense, is projected to greatly improve the Spurs’ chances to make a deep playoff run. Wembanyama’s precise scoring average hasn’t been released. Another player is on pace to score a historic 36.6 points per game, showing just how competitive the league is now more than ever.

Equally as electrifying in the simulation, but a little closer to the real thing at this point, is Houston Rockets rookie Amen Thompson, featured above. At this rate, he’ll win 2023-24’s Most Improved Player of the Year. We hope to see this recognition culminate in his growth and development into next season. The emergence of young talent like Thompson illustrates the league’s dynamic nature and the potential for shifts in team standings.

The simulation doesn’t stop at measuring individual glory – teamwork and collaboration play huge roles. The Thunder’s depth of roster and tactical smarts though, are factors that many think could be key in their challenge for a fourth straight championship. Marco Wutz has been mentioned in discussions surrounding player contributions, hinting at a collective effort that could propel Oklahoma City to victory once again.
