Lamar Jackson has made a notable return to practice, signaling his potential comeback as the Baltimore Ravens prepare for their upcoming game on Sunday. Jackson returned to full practice on Friday, as he had missed the last two weeks. He had missed the previous two games with a right hamstring strain. He was listed as limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday. This development is certainly encouraging for his prospects of returning to the field.
Prior to his injury, Jackson was having a career year, as he was ranked first in the NFL with a 130.5 passer rating. He’d thrown ten touchdowns and only one interception over four games, in which the Ravens had averaged 32.8 points. Well, he’s been missed dearly, as Baltimore scored just 6.5 points combined in the two games without him. The team’s record of 1-5 puts them at their worst start in franchise history.
There was plenty of initial doubt about Jackson’s return. With the full practice on Friday, it’s a strong sign that while he might appear on the injury report as questionable, he’s more likely to be active. Head coach John Harbaugh seemed encouraged after the game about Jackson’s condition. He said, “I just don’t think we’re going to plan too much and let that dictate how we go into the game.”
Off the field, the Ravens are dealing with tragedy and turmoil. Since she went down, they’ve dropped four consecutive matches while placing themselves in a precarious position on the league table. In fact, the Ravens have one of the best home field advantages in history, boasting a 74-32 (.698) record since 2018 with Jackson as their starting quarterback. Due to his absence, their production has plummeted to a 4-12 mark over the last half-decade. Tyler Huntley recently has emerged pretty much as an extension backup, I thought how wonderfully he’s filled in while Jackson was injured. Therefore he has a 3-7 starting record.
His impact on the team was recognized by Huntley who said of Jackson, “He’s an amazing player, leader of the team. He pointed out that he continues to practice every week as if he’s going to start. That’s a reflection of his deep loyalty and commitment to the success of that team.
As Jackson continues to get back to full strength, his teammates are excited for his return to the court. Huntley noted, “He’s getting back into the swing of things,” highlighting the quarterback’s efforts to recover and contribute to the team’s performance going forward.
