Chris Paul Embraces New Chapter with Los Angeles Clippers

Chris Paul, 21-year NBA vet, just signed with the Los Angeles Clippers. He tells them all how excited he is to join their storied franchise and continue his haaaall of fame career. At 40 years old, Paul reflects on his journey, his aspirations, and the profound impact of family and legacy as he prepares for the upcoming season.

Paul’s busy offseason ministry also involved a little golf with pops. Now, he’s excited to play a part in the success of his new squad. During the summer, he started posting clips of his old-school plays to his teammates. He focused on tactical approaches that would pay off hugely for the Clippers. This proactive approach speaks volumes to his character and commitment to getting in the trenches with the team to help them win.

Paul’s rookie season on the NBA court started after he was selected fourth overall by the New Orleans Pelicans in 2005. Ever since then, he’s earned the reputation as one of the most respected players in the league. He served as the president of the National Basketball Players Association from 2013-2021. Through his tenure, he fought vigorously on behalf of players’ rights and interests.

Paul has juggled his demanding professional life accompanied by the challenges of personal loss. Between 2019 and 2025, he lived alternatively in Dallas and Los Angeles while his family remained in Texas. Now based in Los Angeles, he values the opportunity to practice and play at a high level while returning home to his wife, Jada, and their two teenage children, Chris Paul Jr. and Camryn.

As Paul looks back on his career, he recently considered hanging up his playing shoes for good this offseason after discussing it with family. The urge to compete, to be great, is what drove him back on the court. He argues that the key to success is in the daily commitment to hard work.

“We just got to keep stacking days. Every single day we just got to be willing to do the little things.” – Chris Paul

Paul’s connection to the game runs deep. He recalls significant experiences with fellow players, including a conversation with Kobe Bryant about a trade that was ultimately blocked by the NBA. The memory of Bryant still lives with him, bringing out fierce rage at the thought of him not being in the league.

I still think about him,” Paul shared. It’s difficult to not think what might have been.

As he embarks on this new chapter with the Clippers, Paul expresses hope for achieving what has eluded him thus far: an NBA championship. He imagines his number hanging in the rafters alongside other Clippers legends like Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.

“My jersey up there? I hope so. Probably me along with BG [Blake Griffin], DJ [DeAndre Jordan]. I don’t know who else. But God willing I’ll get one up there.” – Chris Paul

Even with skepticism about his age and effectiveness, Paul is still confident in what he’ll be able to do on the court.

“I don’t. Age has always been one of them things that where you only as old as you feel.” – Chris Paul

Chris Paul provides an abundance of knowledge and experience to the team, as well as a relentless love for the game. He’s primed to make a massive impact with the Los Angeles Clippers. His impact has far surpassed the game of basketball. It has to do with legacy, family, and a demand to be excellent in every aspect of his life.
