Greenlaw Set to Miss Season Opener Against Dallas Cowboys

Denver Broncos linebacker Dre Greenlaw will not participate in the team’s highly anticipated home game against the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday. His ongoing suspension is still being upheld by the league. Now, he won’t even be able to take the field for his Denver debut after what’s already been a rocky start to the season.

Greenlaw signed a promising three-year contract totaling $31.5 million in March. He faced a number of hurdles in the months leading up to this season. Considering he sat out the entirety of preseason. He was held out of the first six games of the regular season due to lingering thigh injuries. Greenlaw’s absence has been the biggest bummer. Both he and the Broncos organization are determined to turn the tide and get back to competing for a Super Bowl.

The decision to uphold Greenlaw’s suspension follows an incident where he “chased after referee Brad Allen and verbally threatened him as he tried to leave the field,” according to an NFL statement. This kind of behavior cannot and must not be tolerated in the league, forcing action from the league to suspend the player.

While Greenlaw gets ready for his return, whenever that may be, the Broncos are trying to stay concentrated on their upcoming game with the Cowboys. The team is eager to see how Greenlaw will integrate into their defensive strategies upon his return from injury and suspension.
