Injury Woes Hit Lakers with LeBron James and Maxi Kleber Missing Time

The Los Angeles Lakers have resolved to a rough beginning to the season. They’ll need to meet this challenge without two pivotal players, LeBron James and Maxi Kleber, both of whom are out with injuries. LeBron James has ruled the sport throughout the world for a 23 year span. Now he has been diagnosed with sciatica and will miss opening night for the first time in his incredible career. So he’ll be re-evaluated in about a week or two.

Maxi Kleber is out 6-8 weeks with an oblique strain. The Lakers acquired Kleber from the Dallas Mavericks earlier this year as part of the trade involving star player Luka Doncic. Unfortunately, as kind of an ironic flip of the coin, since joining the team, Kleber has had his share of injury woes. Finally, most recently, surgery to repair a break in his right foot forced him to miss the remainder of last regular season.

Kleber’s injury woes continued as he injured his quadriceps early in training camp, resulting in him missing all but one of the Lakers’ six preseason games. He is scheduled to be re-evaluated in about two weeks as well.

Besides James and Kleber, Adou Thiero remains out as he works his way back from left knee surgery. Hayes, who bruised his right wrist in the preseason finale against the Sacramento Kings, is on the Lakers’ radar. Hayes reaffirmed that he will be good to go for Tuesday’s game against the Golden State Warriors.

Maxi Kleber took to Twitter to vent his frustration after being hit with the injury bug since joining the Lakers.

“I put in a lot of work to have something happen like that. But you can’t always control everything. All I can do is put in the work and do my best. The same goes for coming back rehabbing and getting back into game shape.” – Maxi Kleber

The Lakers are preparing for their first game. They’ll need to get creative though, as they will have to adjust without two valuable starters. Inspiration and vision from leadership. On the court, LeBron James is a powerful force. His absence will be a huge blow as the team moves forward.
