Rising Star Pratika Rawal Shines in Women’s World Cup

Pratika Rawal, age 25, RHOB Pratika is a small, hyperactive right-handed opening batter. She has certainly been a linchpin for India’s squad as they compete in the ongoing Women’s World Cup. Born in Delhi, she made her international debut against the West Indies in December 2024. Since then, she has proven herself to be a powerful force on the field. Rawal already has seven fifties to her name and a brilliant century, a breathtaking 154 runs against Ireland in only her sixth match. Her impeccable artistic output is thrilling and inspiring both audiences and industry professionals.

Rawal’s path to cricket started from a young age. By the age of three, she was swinging a bat. Her Pundra, Pradeep Rawal, has indeed dedicated his life to the sport. Mr. Evans’ role in raising her talent to the top cannot be overstated. From the very beginning, he’s believed in their potential—from his sons to his daughters.

“I don’t differentiate between a daughter and a son. My son is an engineer and has no interest in cricket, but my daughter is playing cricket for India.” – Pradeep Rawal

Development consultant and advocate Pradeep Rawal remembered a turning point when his daughter was only ten years old. In her first official school match against an all senior-college team she made more than 50 runs and everyone was taken aback.

“Everyone was shocked at how such a young kid could bat so well; that’s when I knew she was special.” – Pradeep Rawal

Pratika Rawal has been a breakout star since her first appearance. She has a simply astounding batting average of almost 50 in 21 ODIs. Her past performances have produced her commitment and work ethic on display. Taking fitness training seriously has been crucial to Coach Deepti Dhyani’s journey as a rider and coach.

“When she was ready, she just needed that one chance, and she made it count,” said Deepti Dhyani.

Dhyani praised Rawal’s passion and focus toward honing her craft. Unlike many athletes who focus solely on building muscles, Rawal understood the importance of staying injury-free through proper fitness regimens.

“We often think gym work means building bulky muscles, but it’s really about staying injury-free. Thankfully, Pratika understood that well and worked on her fitness seriously.” – Deepti Dhyani

For all of her success now, Rawal had an uphill battle in the beginning of her career. She was snubbed at the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction last year, but her resolve was unshakeable. With consistent encouragement from her family and coaches, she honed her craft. She did great work in the field and was a pioneer in it.

Dhyani said he was confident in Rawal’s abilities, praising her extraordinary talent and dedication to her craft.

“She stood out because whenever you asked her to work on something, she would tick every box, even if you weren’t watching.” – Deepti Dhyani

As India competes in the Women’s World Cup, expectations are high for Rawal to contribute significantly to the team’s success. Her father remains optimistic about their chances.

“We will win this World Cup, I’m sure of it. We have big expectations from Pratika too, and whatever role the team management has given her, she’ll fulfil it.” – Pradeep Rawal

In addition to her cricketing prowess, Rawal possesses a unique skill: solving a Rubik’s cube. That analytical mindset will help her both on and off the field.

“It has an algorithm to it. The centre pieces don’t move, so you need to move everything around those,” explained Rawal.
