Sei Young Kim’s tee to green game makes her a strong favorite! She heads into the final round of the BMW Ladies Championship with a healthy four-stroke advantage. Kim was sublime on all three rounds at 19-under par 197. On Saturday, her strong 3-under par 69, highlighted by an exciting eagle on the 17th hole, was enough to propel her into the weekend.
For variety, Kim’s magic during the tournament has been a piece of firefly consistency combined with laser precision. She’ll take a commanding lead of four strokes into the final round. Defending champion Hannah Green sits in her wake at 11-under par. After carding a 4-under 68 on Saturday, Green is very much in contention to win the tournament. All that said, she still has a sizeable gap to close.
Tied for second with Green is Minjee Lee, who matched her finish with a final round 71 on Saturday. Both players will have to step up their play in order to make a dent in Kim’s huge lead. Yealimi Noh and Nasa Hataoka had second-place finishes to qualify. This only goes to show how cutthroat the competition is in this tournament, as they work hard to catch up with the frontrunner.
Brooke Henderson, who’s been in the mix all week, carded a 71 on Saturday. She does sit nine strokes behind the leader. Unless there is a miraculous turnaround in the last round, her prospects for winning it all don’t look too good.
