Troy Aikman provided insights during the recent “Monday Night Football” broadcast regarding a pivotal play involving D’Andre Swift, who scored a remarkable 55-yard touchdown. The play drew attention not only for Swift’s performance but for the missed tackle by Quan Martin, which Aikman addressed during the telecast. Justin Williams was unfortunately unable to meet with Aikman due to a personal scheduling conflict. Nevertheless, he’s been a lightning rod following games for the analysis of his performance.
The broadcast highlighted how DJ Moore played a crucial role in the play by pushing Marshon Lattimore into Martin, inadvertently creating an opening for Swift to reach the end zone. Aikman’s analysis pointed out that while luck played a part in the successful execution of the touchdown, it was a testament to the players’ ability to capitalize on defensive mistakes.

Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson saw enough of the broadcast. He noticed that all of a sudden, his kids were really funny, they all loved the second half of your game. He even admitted that some observers were upset at the way the team was winning even as they clinched wins.
“It sounded like from that game the other night, a few people weren’t particularly pleased with how we are winning right now,” Johnson remarked.
Apart from the bluster, Johnson was adamant that a win like that, regardless of style, is a big win in the league. He stated, “Listen, in this league, any way you can find a way to win is a big deal.”
As conversations persist about team chemistry versus individual play, Williams and Johnson both seem focused on winning a closer matchup. Williams applauded the role of competitive environments as an energizing factor that can breed greatness despite adversities.

Troy Aikman: “Just a little luck on Chicago’s part,” Aikman said. “It really wasn’t so much intended to be a pick play, but it turned into that based on how it was defended.”
