Antetokounmpo Brothers Reunite in Milwaukee as Alex Signs with Bucks

In doing so, the Milwaukee Bucks have made historic move! They signed Alex Antetokounmpo — Alex now joins his two older brothers, Giannis and Thanasis, on the roster. This signing will prove to be an historic moment in NBA history. Making history as the first active roster trio of brothers to sign with the same NFL team!

Alex Antetokounmpo is the third and youngest son in the basketball-producing Antetokounmpo family. After several successful seasons in the United States, he’s made his home in Europe since 2024. After going undrafted in 2021, he brought his talents to the G League. His 2021-22 season was largely spent with Raptors 905. He honed that talent during the 2022-24 seasons with Milwaukee’s G League affiliate. That experience proved invaluable to him laying the groundwork for his next opportunity.

It was a brilliant strategic decision by the Bucks to create roster space and lure Alex in. They waived guard Jamaree Bouyea from his two-way contract. This decision highlights the team’s commitment to adding the youngest Antetokounmpo brother to their roster mix.

Joining Giannis, a two-time MVP who led the Greek national team to a bronze medal at the 2025 EuroBasket tournament—an achievement he considers his greatest accomplishment—Alex will also play alongside Thanasis, another older sibling. His brother Kostas was also on Alex’s former team, which again makes it impressive to see just how much family runs in this game.

Even beyond their on-court presence, the Antetokounmpo family is expanding Milwaukee’s cultural landscape. Their story provides an interesting subplot to the on-field drama of the team’s season. The brothers’ off-the-field camaraderie and common experiences will prove beneficial to overall team chemistry. This change will strengthen their relationship both while playing basketball and outside of it.

As you can imagine, Alex encountered many big hurdles along his journey. His determination and perseverance was eventually rewarded when he landed an associate head coaching gig with the Bucks. Indeed, his time in Europe furnished him with a rich store of insight and teaching. Now, he’s just about prepared to bring those coveted skills to the NBA floor!
