Odell Beckham Jr. is a three-time Pro Bowler. He has just recently agreed to a six-game suspension with the NFL for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. Beckham’s suspension follows a positive test for elevated testosterone levels. With the suspension ruled upon, Beckham’s hope to make a comeback to the NFL this year has been all but extinguished.
Beckham, who will be 33 when his suspension is up, has expressed a desire to return to the league. That became a reality last December, when the Miami Dolphins cut him loose. He never found a way to contribute consistently during his two-year stint. It took him nine games to make a total of nine receptions for 55 yards. This kind of performance was unacceptable for a player of his stature.
Despite this road bump, all signs point to Beckham wanting to play for New England, Seattle, Los Angeles or Miami in his return. The Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, and New York Giants are among those he hopes to join. All three of these franchises offer Beckham an opportunity to reboot, both personally and professionally, and fields in which he can make a positive impact.
As soon as the suspension was announced, Beckham really stepped up and called the NFL. He sought to know which performance-enhancing drug specifically resulted in his positive test. He would like to know what led to the decision in his case. Hopefully, this understanding will inform his approach to returning.
As Beckham works his way through this rough patch, he’s definitely dedicated to returning to the NFL on a high note. His record of leadership and achievements suggest the difference he could make if restored to his post. As the clock ticks down to Beckham’s 33rd birthday while he serves his suspension. He needs to make an immediate impact to ensure he finds his way back to the league.
