The Baltimore Ravens don’t know if quarterback Lamar Jackson will be able to play in their next game. He remains out with a hamstring injury. During his absence, Jackson, who is a two-time NFL Most Valuable Player, missed every team meeting held this week. He missed practice on Wednesday. He took the hit in the Ravens’ 37-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
Head coach John Harbaugh spoke extensively with Jackson on Tuesday, emphasizing the player’s commitment to his recovery. Harbaugh declined to provide a concrete outlook on Jackson’s availability for Sunday’s game during Wednesday’s presser. In terms of the health of the players moving forward, he said that daily, the medical team is looking at players’ injuries.

Harbaugh lauded Jackson as “a pros’ pro,” praising his extensive knowledge of the team’s offensive scheme. If Jackson is unable to play, the Ravens will turn to backup signal-caller Cooper Rush. This amendment provision has the potential to dramatically change the game for this incredibly talented team. The Ravens have not fared well in Jackson’s absence; since 2018, they are just 4-10 without him.
Teammate Mark Andrews expressed confidence in Jackson’s abilities, stating, “Everybody here in this organization is all fighters. He’s a pros’ pro. He really dove into this offense [and] understands it extremely well. He’s going to know what to do, and I know he’s fired up for the opportunity to go show what he is all about.”
The Ravens are currently riding a tsunami of injuries that includes the likes of Lamar Jackson and guards Ben Powers and Kevin Zeitler. Jackson was one of eight players to miss practice on Wednesday. Though Harbaugh stopped short of calling Jackson “day-to-day,” the team is still optimistic about his ability to return.
