Europe has created a standard that is truly admirable in the Ryder Cup. They went into the Sunday singles with an electric 11.5 to 4.5 lead over the United States. This advantage marks the biggest margin ever going into the final day under the current format. This strict, prescriptive format has not changed since 1979. The past record was 11-5, a number which really shows how much Europe dominated in the overall finals of the tournament.

There are only twelve singles matches remaining, which means that Europe only needs to win three matches to win the Ryder Cup outright. In reality, no team has ever come back from more than a four-point deficit on the last day of play.
