With the fantasy basketball season right around the corner, analysts and fans alike are going through their lists of possible draft selections. Kel’el Ware, Brandon Miller, and Zach Edey are just some of the names taking the spotlight. All of them offer distinct skillsets and all have varying projections heading into the 2023-24 season. With ADPs of 98.4 to 136.1, these players offer high-talent ceilings while assisting in constructing competitive rosters.
Kel’el Ware created a huge buzz during his rookie season. He began 36 contests, averaging 19.6 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 4.4 assists, adjoining a dynamic double-whammy alongside veteran Bam Adebayo. A statue of indomitable springy shot-blocking, Ware’s recent standout work has fantasy managers paying attention, and his ADP of 132.7 helps inflate that excitement. The young talent has shown a great deal of potential to be an impactful player on both offense and defense. Any teams hoping to boost their quarterback rooms should take him seriously.
Emerging Talents in the Draft
With Brandon Miller tough competition, he quickly established himself as the best rookie in his class, showcasing his elite scoring skills. Sadly, a torn wrist ligament has shortened his season. Averaging 21 points per game while shooting 50% from the field and hitting 3.9 threes a game, Miller’s offensive prowess speaks for itself. Even with the injury blowback, he has an ADP of 98.4. This further points to the general fantasy manager optimism regarding his full recovery and long-term value.
Zach Edey had a pretty darn good rookie season, playing right wing opposite Miller. He has the upside to post regular double-doubles and add big-time shot-blocking numbers. After some offseason ankle surgery, Edey is getting back into shape with an ADP of 130.2. He’s a powerhouse in the post, combining elite size with polished touch and footwork. This makes him a strong pickup for fantasy teams wanting to increase their rebounds and blocks.
So … stay tuned for Stephon Castle! He’s great at getting inside the defense and converting through contact. His scoring upside combined with the fact that I think his defensive stats will be strong has propelled him to an ADP of 114.9. Castle’s dynamic play style offers huge upside for the team that dares to spend on one of HGC’s exciting young talents.
Reliable Veterans as Draft Considerations
We can’t forget to look at some proven veterans like Bobby Portis when drafting. Renowned for his high-volume scoring and rebounding punch as an impactful bench piece, Portis’ ADP is 120.2. His reliability will be important for any fantasy managers in need of a stout roster to complement the often volatile production from other players.
Third, watch out for Mark Williams. He’s played more than 44 games in a season just once in his first three NBA campaigns, but he has an ADP of 103.5. His injury history does bring up red flags though. Still, the upside is enough to make him worth the late-round flier for most fantasy players, especially when healthy.
Rookie Matas Buzelis dazzled last season, averaging 13 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game. His impressive showing boosted him up the ADP board to an ADP of 136.1. His complete range of skills and his versatile fit on an NFL roster gives him great upside late in drafts. Any team’s accomplished management can pluck this player and see him blossom into an increasingly crucial part of the operation.
High Expectations for Established Players
Evan Mobley remains one of the most exciting young talents coming into this season with an ADP of 34.3. Analysts are looking for him to put up astounding double double averages of 20 points per game and 10 rebounds per game. Mobley’s combination of size, skill, and versatility makes him an attractive pick for those looking to secure a cornerstone player early in their drafts.
