Boston Celtics Unveil Gold Standard City Edition Uniform Celebrating Winning Legacy

On Wednesday night, the Boston Celtics revealed their brand new City Edition uniform featuring the “Gold Standard.” This design celebrates the franchise’s long, beloved history of success. That new design will first take the court during the 2025-26 NBA season. It includes a white base with alarming gold highlights that make them completely different from all other uniforms in the past.

The uniform, which has the name “Boston” written out in a very clear block style, includes the team’s numeric identity encrusted with a blingy gold swatch. Each one of those touches is gold, a nod to the great success that the Celtics have brought to fans over their illustrious years. In change from every other year, the new jersey will NOT feature the beloved green earth color. This particular shade has historically been associated with the franchise.

These jerseys have a striking color scheme that pops. It features black outlines on the names and number cutting, which adds a graceful flourish to the overall design. One notable feature of the uniform is the 18-time champion patch. Embroidered in at the center back of the neckline, it features Boston Celtics’ legacy logo which celebrates their record achievements of 17 NBA titles from 1957-2024.

The patch is another big step forward for the Celtics. During the 2024 NBA Finals, they sealed their 18th championship by overwhelming the Dallas Mavericks in a five-game series.

The Boston Celtics have had a history of featuring gold trimming on their City Edition uniforms. They championed this design as away uniforms in the 2019-20, 2022-23, and 2023-24 seasons. This “Gold Standard” jersey truly is named for a new beginning, removing green from the set altogether.

The culture of success and winning streak runs deep, largely in part to the franchise’s past, and the Celtics storied coach Red Auerbach. Thanks to his leadership, the Celtics won nine NBA championships during his tenure. They set a mighty regular-season winning percentage at of 795-397 (.667), and an enviable postseason mark of 90-58 (.608).

As anticipation builds for the upcoming season, fans eagerly await further details regarding when the Celtics will don their new City Edition uniform.
