Micah Parsons Aims for Victory in Emotional Return to Dallas

Green Bay Packers’ all-pro linebacker Micah Parsons is coming back to Dallas this weekend. He’ll do it against the Dallas Cowboys in a primetime matchup, nonetheless! This is a huge opportunity for Parsons. He spent four seasons in Dallas before a notorious trade to the Packers, spurred by a contentious contract dispute.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has since said that the team will not be honoring Parsons on his return. This decision is surprising given that Parsons is considered a former fan favorite. Nonetheless, Parsons has deep roots in the Dallas community, where he still has many friends and family. He retains a luxury box at AT&T Stadium. He reserved it for the 2025 season long before his shocking trade to Green Bay.

Parsons humorously noted, “The suite’s going to be packed out for sure.” He even tried to persuade his Packer teammate Kenny Clark to lease the suite to him for the home games next season.

As Parsons takes the field, he does so with some impressive statistics. He’s tied for the NFL lead with 14 quarterback pressures. In 2023, he’s already recorded 1.5 sacks through three games. These accomplishments highlight his important place in the Packers defensive scheme.

Kurt Warner, too, was amazed at Parsons’ return as he described on The Rich Eisen Show. He touched on that special feeling of going against your old team. He noted, “I don’t know what that feeling is like — going back to obviously the organization you played for, the team that drafted you — but I’m sure it’s probably a weird feeling for him.”

Parsons himself was clearly happy to be back when he said of his relationship with Dallas, “You know, I think Dallas loves me. But, despite any reflections he may have, his eyes are always on the next game.” But for the rest of us, just focus on another week for going 1-0,” he added.

Parsons does not view the Cowboys’ omission from a tribute as disrespectful. Despite assurances to the contrary, we know that political appointees can still compromise science. “No, there’s a lot of things I can consider disrespectful throughout this process, but I wouldn’t say the tribute is one of them,” he explained.

Parsons is looking ahead towards this return match that everyone has been waiting for. As he hunts for individual and team glory, all eyes will be on him and his former franchise.
