Jayden Daniels, our exciting young quarterback, was hopeful about his chances to return from a sprained left knee. Daniels put himself on the shelf after injuring himself on the last play of the fourth quarter of the Week 2 game against the Green Bay Packers. Now, he’s just itching to return to the field. Overall, he’s feeling much better and more like his usual self. He is looking forward to hopefully continuing this positive and optimistic trajectory all the way back to return to play.
During recent practices, Daniels actively participated in individual throwing drills, demonstrating his commitment to regaining his full strength. Pitifully, he was already being tested as he struggled to hold his position. In addition, the brace on his left knee helped support and stabilize the injured area. Despite the incredible progress Daniels has made, he still finds himself in a place of doubt. If he’s cleared to play against the Falcons this Sunday, he asked why he’d ever need to wear the brace in a game.
That’s the important thing,’ ” Daniels said, adding that the ultimate decision on his return rests with their medical staff.
Daniels hurt his knee when he was scrambling upfield and took a helmet to the knee. Due to that illness, he was forced to miss last week’s unusual “home” game against the Las Vegas Raiders that his team soundly won 41-24. He had already missed practice the past week, but he was dead set on increasing his activity this week. On Monday, he did a full range of work on the field, and was expected to ramp things up further on Tuesday. He was limited in practice all through Wednesday.
In spite of these obstacles, Daniels has remained optimistic through his recovery. He said that he has done his share of running and cutting drills. Now, he’s sure about taking advantage of that opportunity come this Sunday.
“I feel good so I don’t think [the knee] affects me,” he stated, showcasing his determination to return to form.
Washington head coach Dan Quinn lauded Daniels’ leadership while recovering from the injury. “He’s doing everything you possibly can to get there,” Quinn commented, highlighting the quarterback’s commitment and persistence.
As for Daniels, it remains to be seen if he will make his initial start since Week 13 of the 2022 campaign. Now, with the Falcons game looming, the excitement juice is flowing! Now everyone, from fans to teammates, looks forward to his highly-anticipated return. His road to recovery could provide a wild subplot to the biggest game of all!
