Bosa’s Knee Injury Raises Concerns for 49ers After Narrow Win

Nick Bosa, a key player for the San Francisco 49ers, left Sunday’s closely contested game against the Arizona Cardinals with a knee injury late in the first quarter. Bosa slammed home the rookie quarter Kyler Murray from the left side. As he went in to make the tackle, his knee hyperextended, resulting in the injury as he fell to the turf.

As Bosa was on his back on the sideline, the 49ers’ training staff attended to him right away. He was then spotted limping towards the sideline, clearly in pain from the injury. As he left the floor, walking towards the locker room, he waved off all fears and pointed to what was actually going on. He gave a thumbs down.

Bosa bypassed the team locker room, spending a good number of minutes in the blue medical tent, before re-emerging to do some stretching and high-knees. He proceeded down the tunnel to the locker room, looking for medical personnel. Just before the third quarter got started, he was announced as out for a return. After being deemed a questionable return, Bosa never returned to the game and although there were optimism for his return, that was not the case.

Through the first two weeks of the season, Bosa had been instrumental for the 49ers, tallying two sacks, eight pressures, and 15 tackles. His final numbers were eye popping – 21.9% pass rush win rate and 38% run stop win rate. Head Coach Kyle Shanahan said that Bosa’s presence was really key for the team, and that he was worried about the injury.

“There is concern because of how he feels,” – Kyle Shanahan

Shanahan remains hopeful about the situation, stating, “Hopefully we’ll have some good news [Monday].” Whatever the 49ers can do to further test Bosa and determine just how bad his injury is, they’ll do. Finally, they’ll make a plan for what to do next.

The 49ers pulled out an ugly, but beautiful if you are a Niners fan, 16-15 win against the Cardinals. They accomplished this even with Bosa missing key stretches of the game. As they prepare for upcoming matches, the team will closely monitor Bosa’s condition, understanding that his performance is vital for their defensive strategy moving forward.
